Posted By christopher WITH THE HIGH PROFILE THESE DAYS FOR SAFETY WHEN WORKING AT HIEGHTS, I AM FRUSTRATED WITH FALSEWORK/FORMWORK CONTRACTORS. WHEN ASKED AWKWARD QUESTIONS REGARDING THEIR UNSAFE SYSTEM OF WORK,AN ANSWER ALONG THE LINES; WE ALWAYS DO IT LIKE THIS IS COMMON. AN EXAMPLE OF AN UNSAFE SYSTEM OF WORK IS: STRIKING (REMOVING)PLYWOOD SHEETS FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF A CONCRETE FLOOR. THE JACKLEGS ARE LOWERED ALLOWING ROOM FOR THE PRIMARY & SECONDARY TIMBER REMOVAL. THE PROPRETORY FALSEWORK SYSTEM IS REMOVED LEAVING THE PLYWOOD STUCK TO THE CEILING VIA SUCTION. SCAFFOLD TUBES OR SIMULAR ARE USED TO PRIZE THE PLYWOOD SHEETS FROM ABOVE WHILST STOOD BELOW THE ADJOINING SHEET. I AM TRYING TO RAISE AWARENESS AMONGST THIS SECTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH INFORMATION/BEST PRACTISE?

Posted By Chris Pope Agreed, it always will be a problem.. Somehow you should get a copy of the Bragg report carried out in the 1970s - all the problems are there, but a lot of commonsense included from down to earth people who had been there & done it. Good luck
