I have a meeting at 1030 regarding the reduction of the manual handling element of induction process. The hospital's Director of Education has told me I have to provide a 2 hr practical patient handling session instead of a 3.5 hr.

I have put up the usual arguments against this move but she is adamant.

Anyone like to share with me their timings for patient handling practicals?

Much appreciated

Oh! BTW, I have refused to provide the training!

During my training as a manual handling instructor I was informedby the tutor that the min time should be 3 hours.
After a recent visit from the HSA ( HSE counterpart in Ireland )the inspector informed me that manual handling training should be completed in days rather than hours. I think she was talking about assessments etc incorporated inti the training session.
When I give te training in the job I take 3 hours to complete the theory and approx 3 -5 hours for practical assessment of the respective jogb ( over a period of time )
