Posted By Eric Burt I am carrying out some research for a friend into possible birth defects through the use of Methyl methacrylate (MMA). Nail salons in the UK are using MMA to make acrylic false nails. The substance is a cheap and nasty alternative to EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate) which is used by reputable salons. Does anyone have any evidence, anecdotal or otherwise, of staff who work in beauty salons having problems with pregnancies / births. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic I appreciate that some colleagues may wish to reply directly and in confidence. I intend to pass on any findings to the medical profession for further research. Many thanks Eric
