Posted By Jon Jones We have a facility that is made available for events, wedding etc. We are currently reviewing the requirements for first aid provision during these events. Max. number of people would be around 150. We have an onsite kitchen, which can be used by qualified personnel. Would anyone have any helpful tips on what sort of provision we are legally required to have in place? Is it a legal requirement for us to provide first aid provision? Thanks Jon

Posted By Ken Taylor It will depend upon the contract arrangements for the use of the facility. If you (as an employer) retain control, you would need to make provision. If they are employers and have control they should make provision. For large events, the Event Safety Guide (HSG195) might be the appropriate guidance source in addition to any requirements imposed by licence (eg for music and dancing, sale of alcohol, etc). The level of provision should be determined by risk assessment but for low risk events with few employed persons present, an appointed person, first-aid kit and a telephone might well be adequate.
