Hi have any of you school governers out there got any generic type assessments for school trips from primary schools you could let me have. Iv'e been lumbered and don't want to re-invent the wheel.

If yours is an LEA school I would suggest you contact the LEA Educational Visits Coordinator (title may vary slightly with different authorities), who should have the procedures in place. If it is a foundation or Voluntary Aided schoo, it would still be worth giving them a ring as they may well provide such a service (although they are not the employer).

The site below is a good one. It contains a document entitled "Standard for LEA's in Overseeing Educational Visits". It also offers sample risk assessment forms for school trips.

If you would like other sample risk assessments just enter your query with Google, say "Sample Risk Assessment forms for School Trips" and you will be provided with numerous options.

If you haven't already seen it & not got an educational visit coordinator well worth looking at DfES guidance "Health and Safety of Pupils on Educational Visits" its free if you phone them up they will send it to you, has some std forms in the back
