Does anyone know whether there are any prescribed weights for manual handling operations in Holland or is it the risk based approach as adopted here.
Any info gratefully received.

Andy,

As far as I know, everything seems to be measured in ounces or eigths over there. You can carry a lot more in Amsterdam in certain establishments but the risk to yourself and others increases outside these working environments.

Have a good trip....

James

PS Sorry for being in a Friday mood on a Tuesday. I'm sure someone will be of slightly more help. J

hey, that's my question - posted 11 June.

Further investigation and query of a more traditional nature meant that we sort of discounted it. But now that you've flagged it up again I am slightly concerned; or perhaps you and my boss have been to the same event where this was discussed (the pub I think!) - you don't work for a printers do you or are based in Yorkshire?!

Andy...from what I remember from working there a few years ago the weight for men is 20kg with lower recommendations for repetitive lifting. I am making enquiries with a contact there at the moment as to whether there is a risk assessment method and also the weight for females.
