Can anyone assist me, I am looking for advice on indoor pyrotechnics that are used at conferences and the health and safety issues to be addressed. If any one has undertaken a risk assessment on this type of activity I would be welcome of any advice.
Basically there is a machine that you attach mini indoor fireworks to and then blow them up!!! Also you can attach big party poppers to the machine which distribute a shower of confetti overhead.
Many thanks
Trudy

We did a pantomime for the public last December (the story centred around a very accident-prone elf) complete with indoor pyrotechnics. I may be able to help. Please e-mail me.

I work in the Events Industry and often come in contact with Pyrotechnics/Fireworks.
Some general rules include:
- Operation by a competent person
- All units have a safety zone, if anyone is in this zone then the unit cannot be fired.
- Storage should be in clearly marked a secure container
- Electronic firing units have key operated safety switches
There are now many alternative techniques that aren’t explosive based such as using compressed gas.
If you require any additional help drop me a line.
