Posted By Ken Chappell Does anyone have any information on what is the best way treat needle stick injuries in the first instance? Is it advisable leave the injury, rub the injury, squeeze the injury etc. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation. Ken Chappell

Posted By Danny Swygart First Aid for needle-stick injuries:- • Encourage the wound to bleed (e.g. squeezing a wound on the finger). • Wash well with soap and water. • Cover with a dry dressing. • Seek immediate medical advice. • Record the incident and the action taken, on an accident report form.

Posted By Gordon Thelwell Hello Ken, I used to work for Barnsley MBC, they pioneered a very good health and safety project for this specific problem and have excellent resources. The Chap you should speak to is Mr. Cartwright-H&S Department Barnsley Metropolitian Borough Council. He is a gem of a bloke and i'm sure you will be successful. Good luck. Gordon.
