Posted By Robert S Woods Can anyone help with info on the requirements for fitting a lightning conductor? A client is refurbishing a four-story building in a built up area and cannot find any info as to whether or not one should be fitted. Bob

Posted By James Goodstadt Robert, I'm a fire engineer; so don't know too much about lightning protection other than there is a British standard (BS 6651, I think) that covers the subject. This may, however only say what needs to be done if you decide to use lightning protection rather than saying if you need to have some. The company FURSE (search it on google and it comes right up) supply and install lightning protection and should be able to help you / your client with regard to the requirements or otherwise. Posted By Martin Taylor Robert as lightening conductors are more a protection for the building structure than for people I would expect that the installation would be more a requirement of the clients insurers than any health and safety requirement. Other avenue to check would be the locak council building controls MT
