The calculation for an Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) in Europe is;

The number of Accidents (Y) divided by 100,000 and then times by the number of hours worked (X).

Y x 100,000 / X = AFR

For instance if you had 2 accidents in the month of July and had worked 123,456 hours man hours, the calculation would be;

2 x 100,000 / 123,456 = 1.62
