Hi ALL

We have a IT technician who works downstairs in a basement which is used for archiving documents.

This room also houses the network server and all spare IT equipment.

There is only one route of entry and escape. The room has fire fighting equipment and communications. However i'm not satisfied that this location is the best.

can anyone give me any guidance or reasure me that this is OK

You will need to establish if the travel distances for means of escape do not exceed 18m, and that the basement is protected by a degree of fire protection together with an audible warning device from the fire alarm system.
Overall its not an ideal situation

What if the fire extinguishing system was inert gas? Would this prohibit working in the area?
