Hi all,
I'm trying to draft a procedure for dealing with a leak of an IBC containing a flammable solvent into a bund. The solvents in question are styrene and acetone.
I'm thinking removal of non-necessary personnel, suitable PPE/RPE and training for those likely to deal with the leak, spill kits and/or intrinsically safe pump, safe disposal. Or alternatively just clear the area and call in a waste disposal contractor to do it for me.
Someone out there must store these substances? What do you have in place?
Ideas anyone?

I'd agree - either a trained team equipped with BA and chem suits (which is a real pain to manage in my experience) or evacuate and call in an external response service (which would cause delay and expense, as well as allowing alot to evaporate to the local and wider environment). Styrene's nasty stuff from memory, and with acetone around you would need to be pretty careful about ignition hazards during the response.
