I usually use the following headings: Business Objective: e.g. Personal, Client, or Shareholder satisfaction. Link to Business Plan: e.g. A specific objective in your plan - Improve Confined Space Awareness, Increase number of Permit to Work Signatories etc. Course Title: The course you have identified as being suitable. Delivered by: - Could be internal or external resources / service suppliers Number of Hours: Self Explanatory
BUT - the most important thing is that there is not point in doing training for training's sake. You must explain to the trainees why they have been selected for the training, and what they are expected to acheive, and then de-brief them to evaluate the training. Then and only then will you be able to assess if you have met your business objective.
It importantly when delivering training that the trainee feels that his market worth (whether internal or external) will be increased as well as giving valut to the company in meeting the business objective.
Training must too be formally recorded, as in the event of an incident one of the first thins investigators seek is evidence of training and supervison.
Formalised training and verification / assessment goes some way to demonstrating competency.
Hope this helps. Regards - Chris
