Hi everyone
We are taking on a memorial squad and I'm trying to draw up some safety procedures on this. Does anyone happen to have or know where I would find such things....? I've been through the IBCA handbook and am looking for more suggestions.
Any help is always appreciated.
Emma.

Emma,
I hope this will not be the vandalism, in the name of safety, that some LAs have been up to.
When people (years back) bought their plots they entered into a contract with the LA (or their forebearers) that the cemeterys would be maintained. Seems to me many LAs are now using the excuse of a lack of money to renege on this.
Sorry about the hijack but its something that annoys me.

Emma, Gilly,
You may find the electronic version is not as up to date as the hard copy available on joining NAMM. Joining fee is I think about £100. You are able to get advice from other members too.

See HSE Local authority Circular 23/18 August 2001 and Guidance to management of safety in burial grounds, published by the the Association of Burial Authorities with Zurich Municipal.
Good article in the Env Health News on how Wigan MDC do this,(17 Sept page 9) if you know an EHO they could copy for you or let me know a fax and I can send.
