Posted By Robert S Woods I’m looking for a company in the West Yorkshire area that can check machinery for CE compliance or against BS standards for guarding. Any help would be appreciated.

Posted By Paul Oliver Hi Robert,
can you elaborate a little bit more. If you are purchasing machinery be it brand new or second hand, the seller has to ensure it meets current regs (puwer) and also has CE conformity. Look for manufacturers instructions, maintenance manuals etc,for further info. Paul

Posted By Robert S Woods The machinery may have been used by a company from new but purchased before standards were introduced. One example would be a milling machine that has been owned by a client since the 1960s. It is not guarded to the relevant standards and they need advice.

Posted By neil poyznts-powell Robert,
I would advise that all equipment, even 'brand new' equipmnt bought with a CE/BS mark in place, is subjected to an 'in use' risk assessment. As it is my understanding that a CE/BS mark will not protect your company from legal action in the event of an accident (PUWER).
I can send you copies of the forms I use to carry out the asessment if you want a look.
Regards,
Neil
