I have access to a Single Line LED Sign and was wondering what sort of information to display on it. There is the obvious like the number of days since a lost time accident. Any suggestions very welcome.

Depends on what your business is, we have 1 which, welcomes our customers by company name, displays time,date it also has messages reagarding parking in visitors bays, on a Friday it indicates that we have a fire alarm test. I guess it also depends on how much time you have to program it.

We use ours for various reasons (very large board) but in terms of H&S we use it to show the number of lost days (year to date) due to accidents. It also shows daily business performance with information for the employees. It is a welcome sign for any visitors on site. It shows the time, which is very important for some employees :-) It also shows half hourly performance to track business performance against targets. Can't think off hand what else is on there. I know it runs from a PC program and has a fair few screens. Oh yes, when it's someones special day for some reason, such as when a child is born, etc (if it is known it will be well received).
(Side Question)- Ian, do you tell your employees you intend to carry out an fire alarm test? We don't inform them, it is a complete suprise and therefore shows an pretty accurate measure of how long it might take to get all people to the fire assembly point.

We carry out a weekly test of the fire alarm, as per BS5839. When we have an evacuation, 2 per year the staff are un aware, these are timed and we also block a means of escape (This is to simulated the location of fire) this ensures that the "parrot" fashion means of escape is not followed. We try to make it as real as possible, turn off lights,even have some one who'll want to go back in to the building for belongings.
It works, so many companies set the alarm off, time the event and head back in. I like to make it "real" thought about plumbers smoke bombs, but many be a bit OTT.
Getting back to the LED sign, its more to inform vistors and a reminder to staff that the fire alarm will be tested.
