Does anyone have a method statem,ent for working near the highway, especially tree works on or near the highway? Any help please?

In general terms, you should be complying with the Code of Practice associated with the New Roads & Streetworks Act, see link below (CoP available to download).
Your particular task or operation may involve other risks (e.g. overhead lines)and those associated with felling large trees may necessitate temporary total road closure which,depending on the circumstances, may mean a short term "double red" traffic light control, or a formal permission from the local Roads Authority for planned dispruptive works. It would be as well to liaise with Police too in such circumstances. Nuisance risks to local vehicle/pedestrian traffic (inc. buses etc.) should also be considered, and timing of works planned accordingly (e.g. Sunday work if needed?)

Main reference is;
Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Mananual (and associated documents).
Safety at Streetworks and Roadworks Approved Code of Practice.
Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002.
These should be referred to when determining the site requirements and methods of working. Method statements should make reference to them.
Most tree works involve traffic control as some time and it is usual for Stop/Go boards to be used if two way traffic cannot be maintained. The code of Practice may be downloaded from the Dtr website or www.streetworks.info
