Posted By Martyn Hilditch Can anyone tell me if there are any standard templates that exist as a Permit to Work for Asbestos. Perhaps more specifically for work in boiler houses.

Posted By Ron Hunter Your question scares me! Work on asbestos insulation can only be carried out by a licensed contractor, who is required to notify it to HSE, provide method statements etc. Same info should be requested and discussed between client and licensed contractor. Other possible related issues: Confined Spaces! See Asbestos section of HSE website for comprehensive info.

Posted By Martyn Hilditch The Permits to work are for the Control of Contractors, not working with asbestos.

Posted By Stuart Nagle Martyn. If your response is correct, perhaps part of your question, namely "standard templates that exist as a Permit to Work for Asbestos" was a little misleading. I would suggest that a standard permit work could be employed for contractors working in the vicinity of 'encasulated' asbestos containing materials could be used, together with a stringent safety method statement and adequate levels of supervision. If, however it is likely that the asbestos containing materials need ot are likely to be disturbed, a remedy that prevents this is necessary, such as removal of the ACM's or another reasonably practicable method - cost analysed to provide the best solution, but either may be expensive solutions, depending on how vital the contractors works actually are! Regards... Stuart
