What will differ is not their management responsibilities and procedures, rather their safe working methods/ operational safety controls. The SMS audit will initially establish that they have identified the need for the operational safety controls then the opportunity is there to audit compliance with the safety controls. If you do not have the background you would probably want someone with a construction background to consider the efficacy of the safety controls and their completeness with regard to the particular type of construction work being carried out.
