Folks,
Can anyoe elighten me as to the best pratice for cleaning safety nets after they have been used as fall arrest while employees are in the process of taking down asbestos sheeting.
All the required PPE will be utilised on this job but I am a little unsure as to the best way to clean the nets after they have been used. Or is it the case that the nets should be destroyed?

I would bin them with the asbestos waste - the cost of cleaning would probably be more than buying new ones and the implications just horrendous.

I agree that the best practice is to bin them, I have tried covering the nets with plastic sheeting for smaller areas but for large areas I would dispose of them.

Totally agree with binning them, but I have to ask how you came to be using nets for such a project. I presume you were de-roofing - so why wasn't scaffold, MEWPS or man-riding cages used? I am concerned that you had people working off small section steel as this is the most common structure underlying cement sheets.

Thanks for the info folks. This project has not started yet. I am only in the process of assessing all options. I would imagine that MEWPs will be utilised for accessing the roof.

bin the netting, it is unlikely that you could get it decontaminated properly.
