Posted By Ian clegg I work for a grounds maintenance company who at this time of year carry out maintenance on hedges. We have used various tyopes of tressle and ladder combinations and still the safest method of carrying out the work is from the back of a transit van. What are peoples thoughts on this as I have been criticised i the past for allowing this, but I thought that reducing the risk was more important and I feel this method is the safest! Many Thanks

Posted By RP Not permitted on the highway to ride on the outside of vehicles. The risk is that the chaps stay on it (common be truthful) when moving along to do the job. There is plenty of staging to use which minimises the risk of a fall from the bed of a vehicle. You can also be fined for parking on a footway.
