My LEA runs a unit for young people aged 14-16, all of whom have pretty complex emotional and behavioural difficulties and have for one reason or another have found mainstream school difficult. Probably because of this their standards of literacy are not high. One of their teachers is trying to introduce some basic H&S/citizenship elements to them and I wondered if any colleagues know of any good resources that might engage these youngsters and open their eyes to the fact that education isn't all dull and irrelevant. I've pointed her at the SPLAAT website and have suggested stuff about how antisocial behaviour can be dangerous as well as a nuisance (eg climbing on roofs) but any further suggestions will be gratefully received.
