We had a client led environmental audit today on site and the only recommendation that was made was to "earth" our diesel tank on site. It's a 3000 litre transcube (transportable/bunded with hand pump).

Is this actually necessary?

Can't see why this would be necessary for diesel due to its high flash point, you can't even light it with a match never mind a static spark, unless you have other flams close by.

That was my thinking as well. No other fuels or flams nearby. I would prefer just to ask the auditor but you know how people can be. I don't want him to think I'm challenging his authority so close to the end of the project (he could be like that). I've actually earthed the thing anyway.
