Can anyone tell me if they have implemented a purpose built welfare facility, towable or driveable, for work of short duration 2 days, and any associated problems they had-- eg who empties the chemical loo?
Construcion Info sheet No 46 gives reasonably sound advice, but our small company would require more than one at, I would imagine, great cost.

I think A plant do them for hire, expensive but then you could try to make one yourself out of used sea going container and just pay for crane lorry delivery. Can be problems going up hill with towable ones if you don't empty them before you hitch up !!

It is do-able with care - we had a Transit converted for this purpose but the main issue is that of finding space for all the required facilties whilst also being able to use it as a proper vehicle for tools etc. Watch your weight limits as well as space. You can always overcome the loo-emptying issue by paying the individual to do it! Jarvis run a fleet of them as well, for hire/lease, if that's of any use.

we use small towable cabins for welfare facilities all the time. As well as A plant try also AWS and Hewdens. You can get some quite practical (and not too expensive) all in one cabins with toilets, mess facilities & office all built in. Emptying of toilets - really depends on how frequently you'e moving the cabins but if you're emptying them once a week for example it should be reasonably simple to emptying them just before you move them.

A firm called G&K Construction of Benfleet have what they call SAMs wagons that they use as welfare for their own staff on rail industry jobs but they do hire them to others if you are interested.

The are mainly ex BR vehicles but they do do the job.
