Posted By Tony Clark I have been tasked with looking at the proposed new Physical Agents directives and how they will effect my company. Particularly what needs to be done if anything to integrate and incorporate them. Does anyone have any useful information regartding them, in particular I am having difficulty in actually getting copies of the 4 directives, notably
Noise Vibrations EMFs Optical Fibres
I have in the back of my mind that there is a fifth directive but cannot for the life of me think what it is. Am I right is there a 5th directive?
Any help would be appreciated guys
regards
Tony

Try the HSE site - pages on Noise, Vibration & Non-ionising radiation (from the general page on radiation), follow the "live issues" link and you will find what you're looking for.

Posted By Chris Pope Tony - I don't know where you are from but there is a lecture on this given by British Occupational Health Society in Cardiff on the 22 Feb - HSE will be telling us what to expect. Let me know if you want contact details.

Posted By Jane Blunt Dear Tony There are many directives (a lot more than 4). One way to get the full text is to look in the European Journal, see the following link http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/en/index.htmlIf you have the full index number of a directive, Google will find it even quicker - e.g. 2004/40/ec gets a direct hit. In the UK the directives are translated into British regulations before they become law here, so if you are in the UK, the HSE webpages are your best bet, as indicated by other respondents. Another good source of information is to subscribe to the Health and Safety Commission Newsletter, which usually runs articles on the various directives complete with what is happening, and whom to contact in the HSE.
