Has anyone designed packaging to display the weight of the packed product? Is this good practice? Also what would be considered best practice regarding packaging that is used for a number of products of differing weights, use an average or scale?
Has anyone displayed warnings on their packaging about the weights, safe lifting etc.?
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Thanks in anticipation of any response.
Regards
Steve

The type of packaging would appear to be the key issue here,
As export packers we are obliged to stencil the net and gross weight of each item onto at least two sides of the case/crate.
If you are packing items into a cardboard box, it wouldn't be out of the question to have a square pre-printed on the box, so that an operator could write the weight of its contents on the box with a marker pen.
The weight should be displayed on both examples,
to ensure that the correct rated equipment is used to lift the case/crate or to ensure that operators are advised of the carton weight before attempting to lift the carton.

Is there any standard safety information that would be considered as good practice to post on cartons? Considering lifting for example. The cartons range from about 15kg - 25kg.

Is there not a statutory requirement to display weights on packages, plus any information on off centre CofGs etc?
