Posted By Vincent Fagan Can anyone tell me where I can find information relating to mobile phone base stations and the specific requirements involved under current EU legislation? I will be looking at the Stewart Report, and todays NRPB report, but I am looking for 'specifics' as to what danger there is working underneath a base station(situated on the roof). What is the need for PPE? What exclusion zones are required in the immediate vicinity of the base station? And also any other general advice/risks that i need to consider and be aware of from the point of view of unrelated personnel who have work to do on the roof? Are particular groups of workers at risk e.g. women, expectant mothers?

Posted By John Murgatroyd There is no evidence at all of any harm from either handsets or base stations, or risk of any harm. http://www.nrpb.org/pres...bile_telephony/index.htm At the height that most LARGER base stations are, the radiation received by a persons body is MANY times lower than received from a handset. Most SMALLER base stations radiate at a power only slightly higher than a handset. Base stations come in a range of guises...the one in my village looks JUST like a telephone pole....so much so that nobody except me has noticed it. The giveaway is the green box at the bottom with ORANGE PCS written on it. As I said....little risk, unless you're looking to get your name in the 'papers that is...in which case you could doubtless make so much noise that people will listen to you.

Posted By John Murgatroyd http://www.ecsconsulting.co.uk/ Wouldn't be of any use without POWERWATCH http://www.powerwatch.org.uk/ ..totally over the top about everything, but impartiality demands a mention of them. And then there is the famous euro-research at http://www.wired.com/new...ess/0,1382,66097,00.html Which revealed that phone radiation causes dna damage....and said it was "inconclusive" and more research was needed....which surprised nobody

Posted By Shaun Ingram Vincent, We had a similar situation at one of our sites ,I contacted all of the service providers and had the best response from Orange. They sent out a representative who came and spoke to all the staff who raised concerns. Some still were sceptical and Orange agreed to provide an independent survey of the mast and its effect on the premises. They were very quick in doing so and the people were asked the preferred areas for taking readings. As it turned out they were more at risk standing under the showroom lights ! Hope this helps if you need any info then drop me an e-mail. Cheers Shaun
