Posted By Christian Has anybody had any experience of online Health & Safety Solutions for smaller businesses. A number of my clients cant afford (and wouldn't pay) for consultancy rates, and seem happy to DIY using a website. I've been pointed to Health & Safety Click by several insurance brokers and other consultants who use them, but does anybody know of any others, or have any experience of them? Thanks

Posted By Philip McAleenan Christian, my company has produced two web-sites to facilitate the requirements of the smaller business. www.web-safety.com is a comprehensive site for program develoment, hazard assessmment, controls, policies, audits and a range of tool-kits and checklists that can be used from the desk-top or with PDAs. www.confinedspaces.com was initially developed to assist those who work or manage work in confined spaces, but now includes on-line safety training materials and is continually evolving as a training resource. Posted By Christian Hi Philip, Thanks for these examples, they look interesting. I think the key for getting smaller clients to buy into these DIY tools, is to have some endorsement from commercial insurers. Are you, or is anybody aware of packages that have such an endorsement, or that are at least recognised by inurers? Thanks Chris

Posted By Philip McAleenan Chris, There is no formal endorsement of our programs in the sense that they have been certificated. But we have had on-going contact with insurers in relation to strategic alliances between them and the safety profession. As an example of the type of project that we are doing, a couple of years ago we developed a project with a major risk management company in the US whereby we developed safety training for them and this was in turn provided to over 1000 of their premium holders, many being large companies in a wide range of industries, in CD ROM format. This type of project assisted them in meeting their objectives of ensuring that their premium holders had the tools necessary to reduce accidents and therefore claims. I don’t know if you call this endorsement, but certainly from our perspective it was a fruitful way of merging our safety programs with the requirements of insurers. Give me a call if you want to discuss this further, 028 4461 3383 Regards, Philip

Posted By Christian Thanks for this. However, www.healthandsafetyclick.net offer commission /or discounts to consultants who introduce small business customers to the service. Don't think the others do this - a spoonful of sugar for the customer, to help the medicine go down!
