Posted By Tracey Docking I've just started a new role in London at a large commerical bank. Looking to make contact with someone in similar role to compare and contrast procedures/hazards/risks/solutions. Anyone interested please?

Posted By Stacey R Collins Tracey There are two or three groups of practitioners in London in existence. The London Banks Health and Safety Forum cover investment banks. The secretary is Allison Thwaite at Morgan Stanley. Her email is Allison.Thwaite@morganstanley.com They are very friendly and generally meet up once a quarter or so for hosted discussions and have a speaker and sometimes lunch thrown in (or they used to - the lunch at Barings was legendary). They used to have an annual internal benchmarking exercise as well. But participation is restricted to investment banks - not open to other financial services, insurers or high street banking businesses. There is one called Interbanks which is for financial services in general and covers the high street banks and building societies. They have the big high street banks and credit card firms on board and do interesting things like responding to consultative documents as a group. I think they're now part of the SHEIIBA benchmarking network so you might have to join that to take part in some of their activities http://www.sheiiba.com/7_other/members.asp. Sorry I don't have a definite contact there. Elaine Tym at HSBC might be able to point you right as they're the only bank I know who could be members of both fraternities: elainetym@hsbc.com And there also used to be a subgroup of London Investment Banking Association http://www.liba.org.uk/ that covers H&S (if your bank is a member then you may have a manager who already attends one of their group meetings). I haven't worked in banking for a few years and there may have been some changes. You could always talk to Tony Macklin who's the principal EHO for Health and Safety in the City as he knows everyone and what they're all up to. His email is Tony.macklin@corpoflondon.gov.uk Cheers S stacey.collins@freshfields.com
