Posted By Richard Mathews Our organisation owns a piece of land that we are going to use for a future building project. The land in question has been cleared by us and secured partly by fence and partly by wall. Yorkshire Water asked for access to the land to install a new sewer pipe, which was agreed. We have now found that they have taken over the whole site with site cabins and storage compound, etc. My question is, if there is an incident where someone is injured or some damage is caused to property as a result of their operation or the current condition of the site or site management, will there be any liability on our organisation as owners of the land. Regards, Richard

Posted By Liam Mc Conalogue Hi Richard, You should have received a signed agreement from the water company that states that they are accepting full responsibility for any accidents/injuries that may be realised on your property. Otherwise you can be held liable when you are the owner of the land/property. I would advise that you contact the water company and express your concerns and I'm sure if you request some written acceptance of responsibility they will oblige. Hope this helps! Good Luck, Liam
