Can anyone give me some examples of 'Absolute Duties' (as opposed to reasonably practicable) under H&S law.

The majority of the requirements under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) are of an absolute nature.

As are most of the Management Regulations.
"The employer shall...." without any qualification of the duty imposed.

and in future -

Most of the duties under the proposed work at height regs will be qualified - the only exception being - no working in adverse weather that will 'jeopardise' Health and Safety.

So don't look for linesmen repairing wind damage during a hurricane.....

Any duty not qualified by statements like "So far as is practical or reasonably practical" is an absolute duty. Look at Reg 5 Provision and use of work equipment as an example.
