Posted By Simon Carrier Good morning I am after some information on sprinkler systems and I seem to remember some time ago that a Fire Authority issued an enforcement notice on a Company basically telling them that they had to have sprinklers installed. The Company took them to court and I think won the argument. Does anyone know where this was reported. Thanks

Posted By Heather Aston Simon Best site for this kind of thing is http://www.bailii.org/ where a quick search using "sprinkler" as a key word turned up this, which I think might be what you're looking for: http://www.bailii.org/cg...ry=sprinkler+&method=any Heather

Posted By Frank Hallett The case was brought by Northants F&RS against City Logistics. It was about the requirement by the FA for CL to install sprinklers to protect those attending a possible fire. CL successfully appealed the enforcement and subsequent prosecution. The Bench decided that Northants F&RS could not use the FP Act [and supporting Regulations] in this way as the legislation is only intended to cover employees and reasonably foreseeable routine visitors - I've paraphrased the decision here. Hope this helps - BUT The incoming Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order may well change the current position. No guarantee if or how until the RRFSO is actually on the Statute Book. Frank Hallett
