Posted By Stephen_S_Edwards I am currently trialing Croner-i, the web based safety thingy from, you guessed it, Croner. Has anyone else trialed it? Is it any good in your humble opinions? Has anyone bought it? I just want some objective feedback before I go ahead and shell out the 800 sheets they are trying to extort!! BTW, if anyone wants to email their opinion, rather than sully the good name of this site, or indeed make it look like an advertisement for the said product - feel free to email me. Regards, Steve

Posted By Stephen Boardman Hi Steve, I had the Croner-i trial last year for a couple of weeks. In my opinion at that time they still had quite a bit of work to do to enable obtaining the basics like the Regs Ect. This may now have been sorted but we opted for the Barber-Index which had a better search function, with more documents and was much easier to use. As I said earlier they may have improved the service since my trial. Good luck

Posted By shaun mckeever Our organisation are also looking for something similar. We cover several disciplines i.e. water, fire, asbestos general H&S. Can anyone recommend a suitable information service which can provide information on all these disciplines. I particularly refer to BS for my field (fire) however British Standards are not suitable for the other disciplines so BSI is out of the picture. Any help much appreciated.

Posted By GeoffB Same experience as Stephen and they haven't been back this year. However, a tip - they do negotiate on price!

Posted By Alison Entwistle Technical Indexes is good - still costly though - you can add the BS service to it (for additional pennies) which you can also do with Barbour I understand. www.tionestop.com

Posted By Stuart Nagle Stephen. Surely if your having a free trial, its up to you to decide if its what you want or not. The opinions of others may be vastly different and surely just because others might not like it, it would not deter you from taking the service if you did? Kinda pointless thread really !! Stuart

Posted By Steve Phoenix Well, there's a good positive post from a fellow safety professional Mr. Nagle. The guy is just looking for some advice on the service. It's all very well getting a trial for a few days, but it won't give much of an indication of how robust the service is! Neither will he be able to utilise the Helpline Service and evaluate it. So, Nagle, have you used it or not?

Posted By Ian Bennett I am using it but as has been said on previous posts, it has holes in it. It sometimes lacks exact details of their other hard copy information. Perhaps best viewed as one of many tools of the trade.

Posted By Eric Burt Stephen I am also trying Croner-i and find it to be very good, however we already have Barbour which is excellent. They are two different types of product - Barbour will give you all the Regs, ACoPs etc and a good weekly briefing, whereas Croner seems to cover more practical issues - maybe better for the new H&S Practitioner who needs some help with policies etc. Croner's Legislation tracker is very good, although a similar thing can also be found in the Barbour briefing. Both very good products IMO. Regards, Eric

Posted By Stuart Nagle So, Pheonix...... Yes, but would'nt pay for it..... as other sites have the same info for free and there are plenty of other choices.... Like using the internet and in a few clicks being able access many sites that carry the same (or better) information....for free.... I also use Barbour Index and Technical Indices which I pay for, for obtaining copies of publications and for reference use. Both excellent if your of a stage that you can discern the information needed and apply it.... Well, Phoenix.... if thats actually your name, answer your rather ascerbic little ditty did it.... Most of us here use our real names and as you can see have direct access availability to our contact email signified by the name above the posting (in blue).... Not you though, Phoenix..... wonder why...!!! Stuart
