Posted By Liam Mc Conalogue Hi All, I am currently attempting to source out suppliers of fall arrest equipment to act as a control for joiners working on roof (i.e. trusses). We are looking for bean bags (not air bags)which are easily moved therefore we don't want bags that take 2/3 operatives to lift. We are based in Northern Ireland so I would appreciate anyone that could suggest suppliers here or in the Republic or in GB together with any quotes. Thanks in advance. Liam

Posted By Lewis T Roberts Not sure why you don't go for the legal requirement in the first place in terms of hierachy, which is to prevent falls not the likely consequences of injury. I would go for safety nets where they are placed over the wall plate and tied to external scaffolding. There are various providers around that would both supply and train your operatives to install such as south west nets. Regards Lew

Posted By Liam Mc Conalogue Hi All, Many thanks to all those who emailed me directly and to Lewis who replied to this posting- your assistance is greatly appreciated. Lewis, the aforementioned joiners are sub-contractors and they wish to purchase bean bags as they will benefit from them in other areas of their work e.g. joist-work (where nets could not be incorporated due to design)as well as truss work. Many Thanks, Liam

Posted By ken mosley Liam, I tend to agree with Lew. An alternative to nets beanbags and airmats would be a 'crash deck' system such as TRAD www.trad.co.uk, there are others. If you want bean bags, go to Forest safety products ltd. of Cinderford in Glocester, but be warned they are a major pain to store. Ken

Posted By Martyn Hendrie As an alternative to bean bags I was shown a decking system that fits on the bottom chord a few days ago. I have no first hand knowledge of the product but it looks as if it might be useful. This link shows the supplier and product http://www.preventisme.o...9146174CC1256BFE0036AA52 Hope this helps
