I am looking for a ear muff type ear defenders that have high levels of attenuation at low frequncies e.g. suitable to provide sufficient attenuation for 103 dB at 125Hz.
Many plug types of protection offer adequate levels of attenuation.
Am I seaching for the holy grail.

Robert,
I am not a noise expert but my think that ear classic plugs offer this protection.
The link below gives performance data which indicated at least 16.9dB attenuation across the range and 18.1 dB in the octave band indicated.
The link also give performance data on other ear hearing protection which appears to meet your requirements

I am sure that there is someone out there who will correct me if I am wrong.

You may be searching for something not available. Ear Muffs rarely offer a better protection than EAR Classic plugs from the examples that I have seen.
If you are successful in your search let us know.

We have one employee that prefers to use ear muffs rather than plugs.
I have been in touch with the major suppliers but they don't seem to be able to help.
