Posted By Heather Aston Amongst all the hysteria, it's nice to see the HSE are trying to get the message over. A section on school trips, prompted by the tragedy where a young boy was killed ( http://www.hse.gov.uk/schooltrips/index.htm ) includes the folowing quotes. " [the importance of] The value of high levels of participant involvement in decision-making to ensure that risks and control measures are properly discussed and participants learn to be “risk aware” rather than “risk-averse”" "Excessively bureaucratic systems for low-risk visits can rapidly undermine respect for the control mechanisms" If everyone who slags off H&S took the time to read this and realise the common sense approach it advocates, maybe we wouldn't read so much drivel in the tabloid press. The ten point checklist for trips looks useful too. Heather

Posted By J Knight Hi Heather, you're expecting journalists to read? Why should they when they can make it all up, John

Posted By Heather Aston Saucer of milk John?! No you're probably right - the stories they make up are much more newsworthy than the "dull stuff" on the HSE website...
