Posted By anon1234 From time to time we all disagree with the way our companies approach health and safety. Anyone got to the stage where they have resigned because of the lack of commitment from the business to adequately resource health and safety?

Don't know how well that would go with any future prospective employers.... great to illustrate commitment and passion... bad to illustrate attitude/management skills/pedancy (is that a real word), reality etc. etc. are you thinking of taking the plunge? I used to walk out at the drop of a hat in other trades...even to the point of violence on the way...but after my CV got to 32 jobs people started asking questions and interviews dried up! Philby

Posted By Gerry Knowles I worked in what was in effect a SHE theme park. We spent hours investigating injuries and incidents which in general were very low level. The management were all committed to the point of being fanatical. It sounds great doesn't it. It is at first but then you notice that the steps people start to take to avoid the smallest injury become more and more extreme and the in the end that becomes almost as bad a no interest management. I was glad to get out and become self employed. Now I can influence the companies I do work for and get them adopt a common sense approach. A no interest management is now a challenge and it is refreshing. On the question would I resign. Well it hasn't happened yet but there is always tomorrow. Just remember you can get too much of a good thing Gerry

Posted By Lorraine Shuker Yes I resigned from my last job and H&S issues were a major part of the decision. I also had no other job to go to at the time but the night after my resignation went in was the best nights sleep I had in a long time. Absolutely no regrets :)
