Many Thanks. I definitely can put this to use. However, a text of the OHSAS System would be very useful.

Raj,

Are you aware that the copyright for OHSAS 18001 is owned in the UK by the BSI Organisation?

If you need this document, you should be purchasing this directly from them or any other approved distributor.

Details of this document can be found on http://emea.bsi-global.c...Quick+Guide/index.xalter

surely anyone who sent you an electronic or photo copy of OHSAS 18001 would be in breech of copyright laws

You might find the text of the ILO guidelines on OSH Management Systems (ILO-OSH 2001) useful. You can download them from the internet at;

http://www.ilo.org/publi...ework/managmnt/guide.htm

Best wishes

I'm sure that anyone seeking information or useful presentations on this site will put them to good use in the promotion of H&S and in particular OHSAS 18001. Any organisation providing the OHSAS 18001 accreditation will, I'm sure, be only too pleased to be involved in any use of promotional material -- after all, they will probably eventually cash in on the final outcome. I'm sure that Raj is 'testing the waters' at this stage to decide whether it would be of advantage to seek accreditation for his company and use various materials to influence the purse holders to part with the cash.
Stand up all those who have never broken copyright........

I would hesitate to recommend the ILO system as a substitute for OHSAS. The philosophies are fundamentally different even though either way one could end up with a perfectly adequate and equivalent system.

While OHSAS is aimed at being voluntarilly adopted by company managements, (as are ISO 9000 and 14000) ILO HS2003 is aimed at being adopted by national governments as a mandatory, legally required system. It also requires direct union involvement in administering the system. While neither of these objectives is a bad thing, en soit, the cultural differences are quite significant. IMHO

If you can afford the £450 (from memory, when we bought it a few years back) the CD-ROM available from BSI is a good investment.
