Posted By GeoffB I've started getting obscene emails (the latest from France) from some users of this forum. A total of three over the last four days. I have virus protection but could I ask you all make sure you have. Geoff

Posted By J Knight Hi GeoffB, This is nowt to do wi' viruses; simply posting an address on a forum like this one means spammers will get you and send you emails for cheap mortgages, 'performance enhancing' drugs and unlikely opportunities to earn big bucks for nothing. Just a fact of life, John

Posted By Jonathan Breeze I've got to agree with John here. I only received such spam when my e-mail was readable here. Now that it can't be read, I don't get the spam. When I make my e-mail address visible, (normally if I'm asking a question requiring a response from forum members) the spam starts all over again! I admit it's not the only explanation, but it works for me.

Posted By Laurie Geoff I have received obscene messages from, ostensibly, myself, and from another H&S colleague luckily known to me to be thoroughly reliable and trustworthy. These people are very clever, and are frequently able to hi-jack e-mail adresses to use Laurie

Posted By J Knight Hi Geoff, Oh, it's that kind of thing is it. Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick. for a time last year I was getting notices that emails I hadn't sent were being rejected; my header was being stripped from somebody else's email client. IT told me there was nowt we could do about it, since we already have viruses, firewalls and so on coming out of our ears. I'm going Linux at home, it's the way of the future, John
