Posted By Ron Hindle Senior careres and carers per resident i wonder if anyone can answer a question for my wife, she is a senior carer at a care home for the elderly and the question is how many carers should there be to each resident. this can be very conflicting and she has tried the national care standards but with not a lot of joy, can somebody help her on this subject.

Posted By Pete Moran Ron, my wife (who is a carer) tells me that it depends on the dependency levels of the residents. e.g. whether Old Person (OP) , Demential (DE) or of higher dependency (some might require two carers). These levels are set further to an assessment of the resident prior to admission. She suggests speaking to the local council or perhaps UNISON.
