Guill....it is becoming increasing best practice to dispense with the need to have these boilers on site by using one of the new cold-pour bitumen-based jointing compounds. These can be poured onto a joint out of a watering can just the same as a heated product.
In this way you will dispense with the need for a fire extinguisher, bottles of propane, extra PPE etc and avoid injuries to the public and operatives.
Just need more councils and highways agencies to either specify the stuff or accept it on site as a valid substitute.

Hi Pete,
We have tried one of the alternative methods before, but the task we use the boiler on is for sealing cobble stones in the highway, hot tar seals and sets harder, the alternative tends to dislodge quicker.
We are however still sourcing other options.
