Posted By Tony O'Keefe Please help, Have had complaints about a member of staff with a body odour problem, the person in question has been spoken to about this in the past. other members of staff are begining to get annoyed. what is my best course of action to deal with this without hurting anyones feelings? I do not believe that there is a medical condition causing this. Many thanks Tony

Posted By Stephen Boardman Unfortunately sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. I had this problem some years ago when I was a transport manager, one of the drivers had terrible odour and I received complaints from other members of my team and admin staff whom did not want to deal with him. In the end I had to sit him down and tell him of the complaints. in that particular job it was sweaty during the day but this person had a bad smell first thing in the morning so he could not blame the job. he started carrying a clean t shirt in his cab. Obviously you need to be tactful some people sweat or in the case of females glow more than others, but more often than not a bit of toothpaste and a bar of soap will do the job. Or there is always the Army Regimental Bath, but dont think that would be appropriate. but on a serious note you need to consider the welfare of all your staff and if this is becoming a problem you need to take the bull by the horns and deal with it directly. Good luck Steve
