We are about to look at purchasing a stand on electric pallet truck for use in out stores area. Do drivers need to licensed as fork lift operators are, or is it sufficient for them to receive training in the safe use and operation and to have this on their training files?
Thanks
Bill

Hello Bill,
Concerning Pedestrian Pallet Trucks:
The R.T.I.T.B states:
An experienced operator with no certificate should only require a 2 day training course.
(about £190.00)
An unexperienced operator or with very litlle knowledge should require a 3 day training course.
(about £285.00)
If an operator holds a certificate and has held it for over 5 years, then the recommendation is a 1 day refresher course.
(about £95.00)
All from an accredited training provider of R.T.I.T.B/I.T.S.S.A.R standard.
Gordon.

Hi
Everyone who uses lift trucks need to be trained. There is no exception to this law
This should be by one of the recognised training bodies and records kept
Regards
Bob
