Posted By Geoff Norman Russell You do not say whether you are in H&S already. If not I got started as a Safety Representative and did the TUC SR courses. This was then a stepping stone to working in a railway safety section when they wanted someone to cover for a short period and 6 years later still doing it. If you are in a safety section already (or possibly tell your manager your aspirations and wanting to further yourself) then get sponsorship for the NEBOSH Certificate. This will give you most of the information you need on the lower levels of safety in the railways. If you want to go higher then go for the Diploma / NVQ route after the certificate (need to do certificate first). Although you will only find that the railway (whatever organisation you work for) sponsors you for this level if you are in the safety section. Hope this helps Geoff
