To one and all,
I am pleased to say that the MD came through for me in the end. I waited patiently until Wednesday before finally getting my day in the office.
The very night before I received an email from Richard Chalkley, I quote it for you now:
Rob,
It was, I have to admit, gratifying to see everyone circle the wagons around you.
All the best,
Richard.
Thanks Richard you have been a tower of strength this past week.
Thanks to my College tutor Bryan Weatherill for his assurance and support, I owe you a few swift whiskeys come the end of term. See me in the Wrey Arms June 9th no cash required.
And to one and all a great big THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
I feel a great weight removed from my shoulders. The MD appeared very alarmed to hear what I had to say, not just about Violent Chappy but also the Ops Director.
The MD being the man that he is was very diplomatic & said, "Well, I think I will sound him out a little before I go wading in". That's totally understandable I suppose, it must be a difficult position to be in and I respect that. No point in stoking up the fire again, it’s all dead and buried now.
I think I may have implanted a not so squeaky image of the Operations Director with his chums on the board, so what! I'm assured by others that I won't be the last.
Chappy got his warning and the Ops Director has been told that I answer to nobody but the MD.
Haven’t had my apology from Ops D yet as he promised if you recall, don't suppose I ever will.
Oh one last thing, Trust me this is true....................................... The ops d called into my office about something or other late this afternoon, just as he was about to leave I recalled something that was pinned to my noticed board.
"Oh" I said, "About that funny little fable you mentioned to me, you know the one about the Wind & the Sun". I then pointed to the wall and said " I personally prefer to take from this little quote everyday".
It reads - 'One man with courage is a majority'- Thomas Jefferson.
What a stroke of luck that was, the last H&S Officer had pinned it to the board and I had never bothered to remove it. Thanks Thomas J.
Its funny don’t you think, how this always comes back to politics and US presidents.
Zip……...Moderators........Pull plug..........

Don't ask what I'm doing here at this time of night.
Very pleased for you, I can understand it must be a real weight off your mind.
I hope you can put it behind you now and move on.
Oh, and good luck with the exams!

Rob,
Thanks for updating us on that one.
As Heather said, I hope you can now put it behind you and move on.
I'm not going to venture into US politics at this point as I'm still feeling bad about last time.
Besat wishes.

Rob,
Excellent result mate. Hopefully you get the apology from the Ops D that you rightfully deserve.
The Ops D & chappy (although I have a few other choice terms that would describe them more accurately!!) will have more respect for you now (even if it is grudgingly).
Hail Rob!!!
All the best mate,
Liam

Hoorah! Right has prevailed.
I'm very glad this has worked out so well.
If you prefer someone a little closer to home that Thomas Jefferson, I recommend dear old Will Shakespeare:
This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
(Hamlet)
I don't know what's sadder...looking up half remembered quotes or replying to IOSH posts on a Saturday night! Oh for my lost youth!
Anyway, hope you are sleeping sounder now.
