Posted By Ang. Can anybody help, or put me in the right direction? I have completed a major project in addressing road risk and I need to know if there is any Legislation which governs driving hours and mandatory breaks? Thank you

Posted By stephen brotherhood drivers of vehicles over 7.5 tonnes and fitted with a tachograph are limited to a max of 9 hrs driving per day. with a compulsary break of at least 45 mins, after 4.5 hrs. The 9 hrs can be extended to 10 hrs twice a week. Eleven hrs break should be taken between each day of duty , but this can be reduced to 9 hrs ,3 times a week . But then the driver must take the 6 hrs lost break in a block, i.e as part of his /her weekly break, wich should be a minimum of 45 hrs plus the 6 hrs lost between shifts . sounds complicated i know and it is. People think all you have to do is drive, but it is the drivers responsability to work out their own hrs. more info can be obtained from the road haulage association.
