Posted By George Wedgwood Some comments have been made in enforcing circles that the wearing of rigger boots expose the wearer to the potential for ankle injuries, as they offer little support should the ankle twist on uneven ground for example. I am looking for examples of where others may have dealt with this problem or comments of the advantages of wearing rigger boots as opposed to possible risks - many like to convenience of ease of changing them! However, I know some vehicle and plant operators don't like them a lot because of drivers stepping down from cabs to uneven ground and twisting an ankle, causing lost time injuries. Comments are welcome. Regards, George

Posted By Bev At a previous company (utility work) we stopped issuing rigger boots due to ankle injuries and issued lace up ankle boots instead. Most people were happy with this but some did still wear their riggers in preferance. We did however insist they changed into lace ups whenever they were on site as they would be getting in and out of trenches and this was where most ankle injuries had previously occurred.
