Posted By Sam Rawcliffe Does anybody know where I could get a copy of JSP 440 The Defence Manual of Security.
I'm sure we'll eventually get a copy of our client, but just wanted to get a head start.
Some light bedtime reading to see how it effects our operations before we sign the contract and start work on site.

Posted By PETER GANNAWAY Sam, JSP 440 is a MoD document, and in the opening para says the unauthorised holding or destruction of the document may be an offence under the official secrets act. I would wait until you are formally given a copy. Getting it on your own isn't the way to do it.

Posted By Simon Birks I would like to thank the previous response for some very good advice. I am a member of the MOD and asking for a JSP alone is not good, but asking for a security document openly on the web is not good.
Sorry to put a downer on it, but you have to be carefull.

Posted By Robert K Lewis It reminds me of the time when some one asked if they could "borrow" my security pass for Prison X, as a friend wanted to see what one looked like.
The real problem for many contractors who have not worked in such an environment previously is that so much is done differently. From the simple absolute embargo on copying drawings, or even allowing them outside of the site office, through the obvious problem of taking photographs to the sudden cessations of work during security clampdowns. You are right to be mentally preparing but I promise you it still won't be enough whatever you do.
