a waste transfer plant has the scenerio to handled hundreds if not thousands of chemicals as part of there business.
is there a need to do a coshh assessment for every individual substance or can the company use generic risk assessments under various headings.i.e acids,corrosives etc.

No problem, do a generic risk assessment on the activity, not the substance, but take care to have regard to the relevant properties of the class of substances.
