Posted By Steven Mellor I'm currently looking at the hazards associated with building sites and builders yards visited by sales reps. Would anyone have a generic risk assessment that I could look at as a starting point. I'm also considering the question of allowing reps to access scffolding or ladders on building sites or not - any thoughts? Thanks in anticipation of any help. Steve

Posted By Stephen Boardman A good starting point Steven would be to contact the proposed building sites/yards and take a look at what measures or policy they have to control visitors. allthough you are responsible for your sales force, the occupier of the said premises is also required to take care of people not in their employment. as for a generic risk assessment, difficult when you weigh up all of the hazards in these places it would be more like a generic risk book, prior to my current position I came from an industry who visited a variety of premises including building sites, chemical plants, schools, universities ect, each site had to be assessed individually because of the diversity of hazards. Good luck Steve

Posted By Nick Higginson Steve Don't know how useful it is, but the Institute of Chartered Surveyors produced some guidance for surveyors going into different premises, building sites etc. Let me know if you haven't got it and I'll send it over. Regards Nick
